Ceramics: Tile Studio—Getting Started with Tile

$225.00

Instructor: David Eichelberger

Tuesdays from 5:30 – 8:00 pm
4 sessions, April 8 – 29, 2025 (work pick-up May 13)

Ceramic tiles! Learn how to design, carve, and craft unique ceramic tiles using straightforward processes. Surface embellishment will focus on sgraffito, the carving through a thin layer of clay to expose a contrasting layer beneath (and other techniques will be discussed).

Whether you're creating decorative tiles for your home or experimenting with patterns and textures, this class offers the perfect opportunity to explore your creativity and develop a skillset. This class lends itself for students looking to tackle a small- to medium-sized project (less than about 10 sq. ft.), but is also great for students who just want to learn.

Want to take a deeper dive into ceramic tiles? This class is an excellent follow-up continuation to Surface Focus—Color & Technique with Jodie Masterman.

Tuition includes class time/instruction, 25lbs of clay (additional clay available for purchase), and full access to the Ceramics Studio during Open Studio Hours (non-class evenings, weekends).

Skill Level: 1-3. All levels welcome. Some clay experience is welcome, but not required.

This class is open to ages 16+
